Math HSAP Question of the Week.

Tubby Tires is offering a 25% discount on tires. How much can you save if you buy tires regulary priced at $225.00? What would be the new price of the tires after the discount?

  5. i changed my % to a decimal by moving it two places to the left. Then i Multiplied my decimal by the price of the tires. And then i subtracted the discount from the regular price to get the answer.

  7. Quentin, you did an excellent job explaining how you got your answer.
    Kendrick (Mr. EA), if you have a percent and there is no decimal, the decimal starts to the far right of the number.
    Example 24% = 24.%, Then you move the decimal two places to the left and remove the percent sign. .24

    If there is already a decimcal there you still move it two places to the left and fill in 0's as needed.
    Examples:
    2.3% = .023
    26.9% - .269
    3% = .03
    Try these: (change from percent to decimal)
    14% =
    9.7% =
    34.9% =
    5% =
    49% =

  9. Kenrick, those answers are all correct. We will continue to work with fractions ans decimals while preparing for HSAP. Let me know if we need to have more review with these.
